Job description
Siyanda Nkala recently moved in Johannesburg from Cape Town and became the editor for the film Blood Feud. His responsibility is cutting the film and piecing it together. He works very closely with the technical crew and directors to ensure we got the coverage on set needed to get the story across on screen.
Achievements/Qualifications
He was first exposed to the film industry as a boy when he was an actor/extra for commercials. He found life on set really interesting and accelerating, that is when he took a deeper appreciation to films and advertisements. Fast forward to the recent present. He started his tertiary career in High Certificate where he got to learn the fundamentals of film making. This course opened his ideas to the endless possibilities in film. All he was doing was thirsting for more knowledge so he continued his studies and pursued his degree in Motion Picture. What grabbed his attention and he gravitated to since first year was film editing. He has shot and edited amateur music videos for friends and that’s how he got more practice out of campus. His talents were noticed by a lecturer who helped him get a job during his second year as an in-house editor and Junior Producer for a marketing agency in Cape Town called Have You heard. This propelled him to work at an industry standard. It was a great experience to be in major commercials and never stopping to learn as well as connecting with amazing established creatives.
Passion for film
Siyanda Nkala was born in the mother City of Cape Town and raised everywhere in South Africa. His constant moving growing up gave him the privilege to connect with people and their stories. He has always felt that those stories needed to be heard and felt like he had to do something about it.
