Job description

Barry Botha is the screenwriter and one of the directors for Owl House Productions. He is involved in everything from creating the blueprint of the story up until mastering the final cut of the film, making creative decisions in collaboration with the crew.

 

Achievements/Qualifications

​

Barry Botha is not always in his directors chair. He also enjoys being in front of the camera. Barry discovered his passion to act in high school and as a result decided to pursue a career in film. He always makes an appearance in his short films and never misses the opportunity to play a role in any given story.

 

Passion for film

​

Going to the cinema was a common practice since Barry was a young boy. He has always been fascinated by the stories told and how it affected the way he felt and perceived the world. Reciting entire films on the playground with friends, showing an early interest in telling stories and now a student dedicated to the craft of filmmaking.

Personal Interests

​

Barry is also an admirer of music. Just like film, it has the ability to tell a story and make you experience any range of emotions. Music inspires, relaxes or cheers him up depending on the context of the song. He is also a student in multiple instruments learning the craft of music just as passionately as he studies film.

His favourite film of all time is The Shawshank Redemption and his favourite series is Breaking Bad.
